BEHIND THE SCENES BONUS CONTENT
who doesn’t love a good back story?
I’m a crier and a micro-archivist. Put those two together and I find myself taking selfies during moments that mean something to me— moments I can tell I will want to remember.
Though not all my crying selfies are initiated by movies— I do love being moved by movies. I can still remember the first movie that made me cry so hard when I was 13 that I had to Google “Can heartache physically hurt?” (Titanic) or the first movie that made me realize that animation can portray beautiful, emotional themes (Princess Mononoke). Those moments often stick with me.
One such moment happened watching the Disney-Pixar movie, Coco. Once the end credits started rolling, my god, so did the tears. I excused myself from the theater and proceeded to ugly cry uncontrollably in a public bathroom stall for >10 minutes.
And just like that, my original ugly cry was born.
This website is a tribute to moments like these and a hope that you’ll have them too— because let’s never forget what Nicole Kidman’s legendary AMC ad tells us, “Somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this.”
Let’s feel those feels y’all ♥️
Love,
Steph
